Deepti J Shah

Contemporary Fine Artist

“My art is my voice - every color I use speaks the words I cannot hear.”

Born in Pune, India, Deepti J. Shah became hearing-impaired at eight months old due to a childhood illness. Yet, what could have silenced her world instead opened the door to a new one - a world filled with colors, emotions, and imagination.

From her early years, Deepti found solace in drawing and painting. While others heard music, she painted rhythm through shapes and shades. Art became her way to communicate what she felt within - strength, peace, silence, and grace.

Artistic Journey

In her formative years, Deepti’s natural talent was recognized and encouraged by her family. Her artistic path took a defining turn when she was awarded the SPIC MACAY Scholarship in 2010, where she received intensive training under Guru Tanul Vikamshi in Nagpur. This mentorship deepened her understanding of form, color, and emotional storytelling through art.

Her journey as an artist soon evolved into a professional one. Deepti began creating large-scale murals and hand-painted décor for homes, restaurants, and corporate spaces. Her work — distinguished by bold strokes, feminine energy, and meditative calm — soon gained recognition.

In 2004, her artistic excellence was acknowledged when she received the Best Interior Award from A & I Magazine for her mural work, marking her as one of the most promising visual artists of her generation.

Philosophy of Art

Deepti believes that art transcends sound and language.
Her works often explore the aura and inner world of women, the harmony of nature, and the emotional depth of silence. Through acrylics, textures, and color blending, she aims to capture the emotions that exist in stillness — the beauty of calm, resilience, and hope.

“Every painting carries a silent emotion — sometimes strength, sometimes peace, always truth.”

Her art style blends realism and abstract expression, with recurring motifs of faces, florals, and flowing lines representing freedom and movement.

Artist Statement

“Silence is not emptiness — it’s a rhythm of color and breath. My art grows through touch and layering, translating unseen emotions into textured surfaces. Each painting becomes a conversation — not with words, but with the soul."
